Day 1. Airport in Colombo - Kalpitiya, Westcoast
We pick you up at the airport and bring you to a charming hotel in Kalpitiya . You will stay here for 2 nights. You can unpack and start to relax.
Day 2. Beach Chill
Kalpitiya is situated on the coast, quite a windy area, which is also famous for kite surfing. If you feel like relaxing on the beach, this is your day. For the active ones, if the season is right you can test some surfing.
Day 3. Kalpitiya - Jaffna
You check out from the hotel after breakfast and the drive goes up the coast towards Jaffna. It takes around 6 hours to arrive in the north of the island. Jaffna is the northernmost city in the tropical island of Sri Lanka located about 400 km north of Colombo and about 35 km from mainland India. You will stay in Jaffna for three nights.
Day 4. Nagadeepa Tempel – Jaffna – Keerimalai Naturpool
One of the most popular places in Jaffna is the Nagadeepa Temple, which is believed to be the temple where Buddha visited Sri Lanka five years after his enlightenment. Nagadeepa is considered the holy island and is also a pilgrimage site in Sri Lanka. Nagadipa translates as "island of snakes" (Naga, Sanskrit word for snake). The original inhabitants of the island are also called Nagas. We will take a public, sometimes very crowded, ferry to the island of Nainativu. After this visit we will visit the natural pool in Keerimalai. Afterwards we will return to the hotel.
Day 5. Nallur Kovil Tempel – Jaffna
Today you will look at the Nallur Kovil Temple, which is an important Hindu temple located in the Nallur area of Jaffna city. This temple is a socially important institution for the Hindu identity of the Sri Lankan Tamils of Northern Sri Lanka. In the Tamil diaspora in Europe and North America, many temples with the same name have been built and are considered as cultural memory here. After this you come back to the hotel in Jaffna
Day 6. Jaffna - Trinco
You can sleep in today and then check out of the hotel. You now drive east to Trincomalee. The drive takes 3 hours. There are no plans for this evening. Enjoy the hotel or go out to eat somewhere.
Day 7. Thirukoneswaram Tempel and city tour
Visit Thirukoneswaram Temple and the city of Trinco. In the afternoon we visit the Thirukoneswaram Temple, a very important pilgrimage site for Hindus from all over the world. Afterwards we experience the city of Trincomalee in the evening.
Day 8. Excursion to Pigeon Island
Today you need to pack our snorkeling equipment and swimwear. We'll take a 10-minute boat ride to Pigeon Island. If we're lucky, we might even see small sharks. We'll stay here as long as you want. Pigeon Island was declared a national park in 2003, the nature reserve consists of two islands that are connected by corals, and is home to a myriad of marine species, as the 100 or so coral species surrounding the island proves to be a perfect habitat for several marine species.
Day 9. Beach chill
This morning you can sleep out and have breakfast in your tempo. There is no program. The last day at the beach you decide what every you feel like doing. Reading, swimming, chilling. Enjoy the beautiful beaches in Trinco,
Day 10. Trinco - Colombo
Today you will fly out from Colombo. We recommend that you arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure. We will drive of from Trinco in due time for the flight. We say thank you! Welcome back anytime soon to this beautiful island of Sri Lanka.
